Celebrating 11 Years of Cargonet
As we mark the 11th anniversary of Cargonet today, it’s an opportune moment to reflect on our journey. From humble beginnings to becoming a leading airfreight wholesaler, the story of Cargonet is one of growth, resilience, and unwavering dedication to serving freight forwarders with unparalleled services.
The Founding Vision
In 2013, Stephen Landy set the foundation for what Cargonet would become. Operating from a small office in his house, Stephen’s vision was clear: to provide competitive, reliable airfreight services that cater specifically to the needs of freight forwarders. This vision quickly took shape, leading to the hiring of our first employees, a Sales Executive and an Operations Assistant, in 2014, and moving to our first official office at Colnbrook, Heathrow.
Rapid Growth and Expansion
By 2015, our team had grown to six employees, and we relocated to a larger office in Camberley. This move came as a result of turning over £2m and moving over 2 million kilos worldwide—a testament to the trust and support of our clients. Our trajectory of growth continued as we opened a small operations office at Heathrow in 2018 to closely oversee the cargo moving through the warehouse.
The year 2019 was a significant milestone, with the company expanding to 12 employees and exceeding £5m in turnover. This growth was sustained even through the challenges of the pandemic in 2020, as we not only opened a larger office facility at London Heathrow but also created new positions to better serve our clients.
A Decade of Success and Beyond
2021 saw us grow to over 15 staff members, alongside investment in marketing and the introduction of new, exciting positions. But the true highlight came in 2023, as we celebrated a decade in the business, thanking our loyal customers and acknowledging our incredible staff for their hard work and dedication.
Expanding Horizons
The dawn of 2024 brought with it one of our most significant announcements yet—the opening of our Manchester branch. This expansion allows us to extend our offerings across the country and enhance our service to freight forwarders in the north, demonstrating our commitment to nationwide coverage and support.
Looking Forward
As we continue through 2024, our goals are ambitious but clear. We aim to not only solidify our position as the preferred airfreight wholesaler in the UK but also to continue innovating and expanding our services. This includes focusing on competitive rates, consolidations, back-to-back shipments, door to airport, door to door, exports, imports & cross-trade, nationwide receiving depots, and our worldwide agent network. We’re also proud to be outsize cargo and dangerous goods specialists, catering to the unique needs of our clients.
